November 20th at #KBtribechat – Let’s Talk Tile and Stone!

Sponsored and Hosted by Coverings 2020.

Ceramic tile performs as an artful expression of both form and function, and its advantages reward design professionals and homeowners alike. Facilitated by modern innovations in manufacturing technology and international influence, tile is one of the most versatile building materials due to its many available sizes, colors, shapes, styles, and patterns. Not to mention, tile is a beautiful material that, because of its natural resistance to bacteria and easy-to-clean properties, performs terrifically in kitchens, baths and most any specified location. Ceramic tile offers benefits like no other covering product, such as being environmentally sound – having zero allergens, zero VOCs, etc. Tile is slip- and fire-resistant, and its inherent thermal mass reduces peak heating and cooling, helping to moderate temperature swings in a home or commercial space.

For kitchen and bath professionals, and architects, designers, installers, retailers, distributors, and many others, the place to see and experience the full benefits of tile is Coverings.

Coverings is the largest international tile and stone exhibition and conference in North America, which annually attracts exhibitors and attendees from across the world who are eager to experience nine miles of tile, beautiful ceramic tile and natural stone vignettes, and vast education programs. Coverings 2020 will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, for the first time in more than 20 years, and take place April 20-23, 2020, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. With event plans already in the works, it is time to register to attend.

May 24 at #KBtribechat – Designing With Natural Materials

A design discussion

Sponsored and Hosted by The Natural Stone Institute

In an increasingly busy world, people are seeking ways to reconnect with nature. One of the simplest ways to “bring the outdoors in” is to utilize natural materials in the home. Not only are natural materials beautiful and sustainable, but they are also typically highly durable and long lasting.

From reclaimed wood walls to bamboo flooring to natural stone countertops, natural materials imbue spaces with intrinsic warmth and an organic feel that is at once grounding and rejuvenating. Moreover, natural materials can complement virtually any decor style – making them a highly versatile design choice.

Perhaps one of the most appealing aspects of natural materials is their quality and uniqueness. There is something deeply satisfying about choosing a slab of natural stone that was formed by nature thousands or even millions of years ago, and then seeing that slab within a home.

Of course, the benefits of natural materials extend far beyond aesthetics. Natural materials are also eco-friendly and in many cases, can be sourced locally or regionally, which helps to offset fuel usage incurred during transportation. A number of natural materials – wood, cork, and bamboo, for instance – are renewable. Others, like natural stone, can be recycled or salvaged for a variety of uses – both indoors and out.
