Our discussion questions:

When designing a kitchen island or peninsula some like to have one flat work surface and others like the look of higher bar stool height counters. What are the pros and cons of each of these options?

Q1.) When planning seating at a kitchen island or peninsula, do you prefer to have the entire counter 36″ high or stepped up to 42″? Why?

Islands and peninsulas have their unique design issues from supporting the overhang to adding electrical outlets with style.

Q2.) What design solutions do you like for kitchen islands or peninsulas with seating?

Q3.) What walkway clearance dimensions do you insist on around islands? What do you do when you have clients who ask for this feature but actually do not have adequate space?

Please share pictures of beautiful kitchen island seating!

Built-in windowseats are often designed for use as dining seating, at least on one side of the table. They offer storage and reduced need for chair space.

Q4.) Do you prefer to access windowseat space via a lift-top or drawers and why? Please share your ideas for and pictures of successful windowseat dining solutions!

Q5.) Do your clients still want a nook with an informal dining table in the kitchen area?

Banquettes are sometimes designed into the kitchen space today.

Q6.) Do you like the idea of booth seating in the home? Share pictures of designs you like
