519550_QUAT-RO_1.75_CA_EN_7x5

Accessories are a must have in a busy kitchen to keep things organized and stay on task. Which accessories are your favorites, the ones you can’t live without? Which are the ones that end up in the back of the junk drawer?

BLANCO has perfected the art of accessorizing around the kitchen sink – integrating countertop elements into the sink to form a workstation with convenient tools that help the busiest room in the home remain productive, space saving and beautiful at the same time. We hope to explore how fixtures and appliances can multi-task in the kitchen space as well as to incorporate accessories that add to the design of a kitchen, not add to the clutter. Share with us your favorites, the ones you won’t part with…

520852_SG_PRECIS_ALTA_MG_WB2_7x5

This week’s topic explores the following questions:

1.) Accessories help keep the kitchen, often the busiest room of the house, clean and productive. When do you need accessories the most?

2.) Which accessories help you to be more environmentally friendly in the kitchen? Which ones help us with recycling, up cycling, composting, organizing, etc?

3.) Space saving design is not only desired, but necessary for productivity. What tools help save countertop space, drawer space, etc.?

4.) De-cluttering helps de-stress – organization helps to stay on track when entertaining guests or cooking for a family. What helps you avoid clutter?

5.) Keeping your kitchen appliances clean with proper maintenance is a key to ensuring they last a lifetime! What accessories keep your kitchen clean?

How Do You Design A Kitchen?

Work Centers? Work Flow? What Fits?

BLANCO and Modenus will be hosting and sponsoring #kbtribechat on Twitter, Wednesday October 30th  from 2 to 3:00 PM.  Join us to discuss current design approaches to the kitchen.

441490_ALTA_COM_TR_CR

Get the sink selected and placed correctly, and the rest of the design flows from there.

To determine the best kitchen layout and sink placement, it’s helpful to focus on four scenarios of kitchen use: families with children, people with limited mobility, multiple users and solo users.

Before we zero in on who is using the kitchen, let’s discuss some factors to consider no matter who’s in there. These include common layouts and work zones. Kitchen layouts begin several different ways, such as from a “what’s got to fit” point of view. This requires looking at specific appliances or a specific cabinet range to work around, even though this may limit positioning choices.

Another option is to begin from a “workflow” point of view, such as the classic “work triangle” method, which is a sink, refrigerator and range in any arrangement. Another way of establishing a kitchen layout is by creating “work centers” or zones, where each type of task revolves around a specific area and set of appliances.

Join us for a #kbtribechat on “who is in the kitchen” – tips for designing a kitchen for different user groups as well as common layouts and work zone options. We’d love to hear more about how you approach kitchen design and to share your tips on designing for families, limited mobility, etc.

To learn more, we have a complementary CEU on kitchen design as well as a strong how-to video library on our website.
