The April 27th #KBtribechat is in support of Earth Day!

Sponsored and Hosted by Whirlpool Corporation.

Whirlpool Corporation would like to invite kitchen and bath professionals to a special Earth Day-themed #KBTribeChat about sustainability in our industry.

Whirlpool Built-In Oven, Cooktop, Hood and Vent

A leader in energy efficiency and environmental protection, Whirlpool Corporation was one of the first companies to create a corporate office for environmental control in 1970, and it remains the only U.S. manufacturer of sustainable appliances. Whirlpool Corporation offers a diverse portfolio of appliances under the Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Maytag and Amana brands.

The company strives to set new standards in the behind-the-scenes aspects of production, such as materials sourcing, waste management, transportation, and products, knowing those aspects of the process can have a major influence on overall environmental impact as well. In North America, Whirlpool Corporation has reduced the amount of water it takes to make one appliance—from 272 gallons in 1975 to just 39 gallons.

KitchenAid 43 dBA Dishwasher

Dishwashers are one example of the corporation’s sustainability focus in all of its appliances. The KitchenAid 43 dBA Dishwasher only uses four gallons of water per wash. Its soil sensors adjust water and energy use based on how dirty dishes are, and the improved water filtration and more innovative dish rack design also play important roles in minimizing environmental impact.

On average, all clothes and dishwashers designed and manufactured by Whirlpool Corporation now save more than 75 percent in water and 20 percent in energy, while refrigerators have seen a 75 percent energy use reduction since the 1970s.
